A Message from Superintendent Dr. James M. Gay
Updated: April 17, 2020
Dear District 230 Students, Families and Staff,
I hope this message finds you and your family safe and well. As always, your school stands ready to assist families in need. Please reach out if you need us.
In light of Governor JB Pritzker’s announcement today that he has extended the suspension of in-person learning in Illinois schools through the end of the academic year, all District 230 buildings and grounds will remain closed. I continue to encourage you to comply with the Governor’s “Stay at Home” order, spend time with your families at home, and do your part to flatten the curve.
District 230 will continue to implement our eLearning Plan through the end of the school year. We appreciate the ongoing dedication, understanding, and flexibility of students, families, and staff as we learn and teach differently.
Our schools are developing plans for how end-of-the-year events such as Prom, Graduation, and Retirement Celebrations will be handled. Communication regarding these events will be forthcoming. We know this is not how any of us anticipated or wanted the 2020 school year to conclude. Our hearts go out to the amazing members of the Class of 2020 and to our staff members who are concluding their careers with us this school year. The contributions our students and staff have made to our school community over the years have made a lasting impact on who we are as a school district. They will forever be cherished.
As I continue to share, these are unprecedented times. The District 230 community has responded exactly as I would have expected - with kindness, with flexibility, and with a true passion for our students, families and our colleagues. We are a family and we will get through this together.
Dr. James M. Gay
