VJA DCs Craigmile & Luedtke

The Consolidated High School District 230 School Board approved the hiring of Nicole Luedtke as the new Division Chair for Physical Education/Health and Drivers Education and Daniel Craigmile as the new Division Chair for Social Studies, Art, and World Language at Victor J. Andrew High School. They begin their new roles in August.

Craigmile, a District 230 alum, currently serves as the Division Chair for Social Studies, Fine Arts, English Language Learners, and World Languages at Thornton Township High School, a role he has held since 2022. As a division chair for multiple departments, he conducts staff evaluations, facilitates professional development, and leads initiatives that support instructional growth and student success.

In addition, during his seven years as a Social Studies teacher, he gained invaluable insight into the needs of teachers and students. Having taught AP Human Geography, World History, Economics, and Sociology, he understands the importance of designing rigorous, relevant instruction that engages diverse learners and builds critical thinking skills.

Craigmile says, “As a proud alum, I am excited about the opportunity to return and serve the community that shaped my academic and personal development. The district’s commitment to excellence played a significant role in my own educational journey, and I would be honored to give back."

Craigmile holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography Education from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in Education Leadership from Concordia University Chicago.

Luedtke has spent her career in the classroom as a Physical Education and Health teacher at West Chicago Community High School for the past 13 years. In addition to teaching, she has led professional development at the county level and served as a mentor to staff and student teachers. She is also an English as a Second Language co-teacher and a Course Team Leader for several courses in her division.

Luedtke says, “I am excited and honored to join Andrew High School as the Division Chair of PE, Health, and Driver’s Education. Andrew High School has a strong reputation as a leader in these areas, making this opportunity especially meaningful to me. I look forward to working alongside a dedicated and professional group of educators as we continue to support student growth, wellness, and lifelong learning.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Carthage College and a master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from Concordia University Chicago.

Victor J. Andrew High School Principal Dr. Abir Othman said, “I am so excited to begin working with our two new division chairs. Each of them brings outstanding experience, but just as important, they bring the student-centered mindset we value so much at VJA. I look forward to welcoming them into our T-Bolt family.”
