After the local April elections, four Consolidated High School District 230 Board of Education incumbents were re-elected, and one new member joined the Board for a four-year term. All five were sworn into office at the recent April Board Meeting.
Tony Serratore won the uncontested two-year seat. Elected to the Board in 2013, Serratore has served several terms as Board President. Prior to joining the Board, he served five years as a community representative on the District's Building and Finance Committee. He was also a Board member of the Andrew Music Parents' Association.
Sue Dalton was elected to a four-year term. Dalton was originally elected to the school board in 2013 and most recently served as Vice President of the Board. She has the distinction of being a Master Board Member and is recognized as a LeaderShop recipient from the Illinois School Board Association. She is a lifelong resident of District 230 and a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School and Moraine Valley Community College.
Chris Kasmer was elected to a four-year term. In 2024, he was appointed to serve out a vacant term of office until April 2025. Kasmer serves as president of Carpenters Local 1027 and is a trustee to the Chicago Transit Authority’s Retiree Health Care Trust. He is an active volunteer in District 230’s feeder school system, having served three years as the president and five years as the treasurer of District 135’s Parents for Education.
Nadine Scodro was elected to a four-year term. In January of 2024, she was appointed to serve out a vacant term of office until April 2025. Scodro, a Carl Sandburg High School graduate, is a seasoned school board member, having served on the Palos #118 Board of Education for 16 years.
Mark Kelly was elected to a four-year term. He has experience as a school board member, having served on District 118 since 2021; he also served on the District 230 Finance Committee for the past year. With 27 years of teaching experience, he brings a unique perspective to the boardroom.
District 230 President Dr. Lynn Zeder said, “I’m honored to welcome the return of four Board members and one newly elected member and excited for the work ahead. Together, as a team, I am confident we will collectively build on our district’s strengths, listen intently to our communities, and work collaboratively for the betterment of all of our students and hard-working taxpayers.”
At the April meeting, the Board also reorganized with Dr. Lynn Zeder as President, Sue Dalton as Vice President, and Nadine Scodro as Secretary.
