The Consolidated High School District 230 School Board extended its thanks to outgoing Board member Kate Murphy Peterson for her time, attention, and dedication to the students and staff of all three high schools.
Kate Murphy-Peterson was elected to the School Board in 2013. She was previously a member of the School Board from 2005-2009. She has served on the Education Committee and was the district’s SCOPE representative. She is a graduate of Queen of Peace High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. She is employed at Loyola University Chicago.
Board President Dr. Lynn Zeder said, “It has been an honor to work alongside Kate in serving the communities of District 230. Her integrity and deep dedication to our district are evident over her long tenure as a Board member. We thank her for her service, confident that her impact on our schools and communities will be lasting.”
Peterson said, “It has been my honor to serve on the District 230 School Board. Our three schools are some of the best in the state, and I am very proud of our students, having witnessed many of their milestones over the years. Recognizing students and hearing about their accomplishments have been my favorite parts of serving on the board. Everyone who works for the district, no matter their role, works very hard to ensure our students have the resources to succeed no matter what their plans may be, and that is so important.”
Superintendent Dr. Robert Nolting added, “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Ms. Murphy Peterson and truly value her commitment to putting students first. Her perspective and leadership will be missed, but her legacy of impact on our district will remain.”
“District 230 leadership puts students first and works hard to find new and innovative ways to provide our students with rigorous academic offerings, varied co-curricular opportunities, and instills empathy and service to our community as part of their education. It has also been an honor to serve with my fellow board members, who all bring a unique perspective and work collaboratively for the betterment of the district, delivering an outstanding education and keeping fiscal responsibility in mind at all times. I know District 230 will continue to be one of the premier districts in the state for many years to come,” Peterson added.
