Hundreds of Stagg community children attend the Max Strus Basketball Camp, but little do they know, they learned a lot more than how to dribble or pass a basketball. They learned what it takes to be a good teammate and an even better person.
In its third year, the camp started as a means to support the Andrew Weisher Foundation whose mission is to "Pay it Forward" to families battling cancer. This year, the Max Strus camps donated $10,000 to two people battling cancer, with an additional $30,000 donation to the Foundation from Max.
Strus, a 2014 Stagg graduate, believes that if you live your life as a good person, good things will happen. His family instilled this belief in him, which was reinforced during his time at Stagg High School.
The camps are not only an opportunity to support the Weisher Foundation, they offer an opportunity to give back to the community.
