Join us for a free community wellness event open to all families within District 230. We will begin this event at 6:30 pm with a resource expo of available supports/agencies within our community, followed by a viewing of the Screenagers documentary Growing Up in the Digitial Age, at 7:00 pm. Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston wanted to explore the impact of screen time and, along with her film team, created this award-winning film that probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games, and academics. The film offers solutions on how we can help our kids navigate the digital world. (runtime about 67-minutes). A brief moderated panel discussion will follow.

Register for this FREE event by using the link https://tinyurl.com/29hy3yph or scan the QR code. Childcare for 4 years through Grade 4 is available by contacting Tammy Stamus at Tstamus@d230.org. Grades 5 through high school are encouraged to attend with their parents.

  • October is Bullying Prevention Month:

Bullying can be a lot of things. It’s defined as unwanted, aggressive behavior towards another, but that aggression can rear it’s ugly head in a number of ways. It can be verbal, social, or physical, and sometimes it’s all three.

How do I help my teen who has been bullied? Talk to your teen about what they are going through. Make sure they know that what is happening to them is wrong. Give them some tips like using a buddy system at school, walking away, and finding a trusted adult. They may need help navigating resources in the school system or coming up with strategies to help them help themselves. The school has an entire policy on bullying you can find using this link. Remember, if you or your student suspect or are witness to bullying or being bullied, the school needs to be notified. You can use the District 230 tiplines or call the deans office at your respective school. For more information check out the District 230 Say Something page.
